A 3' wave breaks in front of us on Cuervos, a surf spot near Punta Cangrejos' famous Caballos break. We make a simple wave jump on a Hobie Cat 16.
STAY TUNED... we're in the process of capturing more extreme footage. We're sailing these reefs all the time, and although we've had a few EPIC events, this IS NOT one of them--just a little footage.
Note the backside of the wave and how the starboard shroud resonates during the free-fall.

Morning after a Nor'easter 100 miles in the Gulf Stream off Charleston in 30 knots and steep seas. It blew like this for 24 more hours, on our voyage to San Juan, PR. Watching this video again brought fear to me. Seeing the tortured leeward-rail and wonderment about how large the waves would actually become... reminds me of a place I'd soon rather not see. Although, Solstice, Marajo, and I are stronger for the experience

NE wind 18-25 knots... Open Atlantic swells 7-10 feet. Erratic sea-chop 2-3 feet inside the barrier reefs.
These are clips from El Jefe's practice session... they're campaigning the Hobie 16 for the next H16 world championship rumored to be held in Puerto Rico in May 2009.
Filmed 28 Dic., '07 in Hatillo, PR, at the Festival De Mascaras. As of 4:00pm on this day, 21 people were hospitalized at this festival by fights, or injuries caused by the float-cars... 2 hospitalizations were grave.
The Dia De Mascaras celebration came to PR between 1840 and 1860; in 1970, the Festival De Mascaras was created. This celebration is exclusive to Hatillanos.
